Introducing Salvaged Sans - a font designed to revolutionise and repurpose waste. Waste is an increasingly prevalent issue in today's society, and whilst most people make efforts to recycle and minimise their impacts on the environment by reducing waste, people are forgetting to reuse and reinvent. This font was inspired by the need to repurpose items that would otherwise go to waste.

A sans font was initially hand drawn. Sans was chosen to ensure readability, legibility, integrity and to ensure that the messages accurately convey the messages that people try to get across using this font.  A hand-drawn aesthetic was chosen to represent the idea of an item that has worn down and is no longer adequately serving its initial purpose. Hand-drawn emanates a rustic, rough vibe that enhances the concept of well-used, deterioration and an item that has served its initial purpose. The hand-drawn aspect was retained when the font was digitalised.

The font itself, in order to express the concept of repurposing waste, was pulled apart and put back together. An aspect of each hand-drawn letter shape was taken, cut out, rotated and fit back into the original letter shape to show how an item can be taken apart or adjusted to be repurposed - hence the font name, salvaged sans. The new letter shapes created with the adjusted aspects still convey the original letters, but in a new, unique and repurposed way.

Below a promotional poster and image - suited for instagram and similar platforms - for Salvaged Sans can be seen. These were made to clearly depict the typeface, as well as to showcase the intriguing elements of this typeface that make it so unique and distinguishable.
